Job Description
Maintain the high standards in the preparation and presentation of all kitchen meals. To follow faithfully the original recipes and the instruction given by the Executive chef with regards to the preparation of all food items.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Maintains high levels of personal hygiene and appearance, and health and safety standards in workplaces.
• Demonstrates respect and follows the superior’s instructions, consults with them on any queries and suggestions they might have.
• Prepares the mise-en-place in their respective area and studies carefully the daily menu to avoid any mistakes. Informs superiors on any shortages of items in the department.
• Helps on the other sections of the kitchen incase their section is not busy. Substitutes or assists other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
• Is able to work in all jobs in the kitchen, knows all the food recipes for menus and buffets.
• Operates large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep fryers, ovens, salamanders etc.
• Reads food order slips, prepares and cooks food according to instructions
• Ensures all standards and procedures, by contributing in the implementation and maintenance of the quality systems in the department.
• Is well familiar with the Hotel policies and procedures, and the physical layout of its premises. Is knowledgeable to the emergency procedures.
• Carries out any additional relevant duties assigned.

Qualifications and Educational Background
• Diploma from a Hotel School in culinary arts specialization or previous experience of a minimum 2 years in the same position
• Excellent Knowledge of hygiene and safety regulations
