Job Description

To assist the Restaurant Manager with the smooth and efficient running of the restaurants, by achieving the standards set. To promote Food and Beverage Sales to the maximum and to offer high quality service to the Guests.

Responsibilities and Duties

● Replaces the Restaurants Manager when the latter is off duty and acts as a direct supervisor for all activities.
● Holds responsibility for the supervision of the service and is able to make ad hoc staff changes during the working day to relieve pressure.
● Supervise the efficient operation of the department, ensuring that the agreed standards of performance are achieved.
● Reports directly to the Head of anything happening in the division, and that has happened in his absence.
● Maintains the highest levels of personal hygiene, cleanliness, and appearance. Ensures that staff are always neat and correctly wear their uniforms.
● Ensures that all necessary duties for the pre-preparation for the service are efficiently carried out.
● Ensures that adequate lighting and temperature conditions are provided for the customers’ comfort.
● Welcome the clients and accompany them to their table.
● Responsible for presenting the menu to the customer, and have knowledge of its content in detail, same as beverages-wine, and explain them in a professional manner.
● Takes orders, serves, and supervises the proper execution of the service from subordinates.
● Monitors the progress of the execution of the orders given to the kitchen and makes sure that orders are executed quickly and correctly.
● Ensures that customers enjoy their meal during service.
● Ensures that the same high level of service is given to all customers without exception.
● Ensures that specific requests in food service are met within reasonable limits and in consultation with the kitchen.
● Handle with skill and courtesy questions, complaints either major or minor of customers. in case of a serious incident to inform his Superior as soon as possible.
● Whenever asked, they must count stocks, conducted each end of the month or as per hotel policy.
● Must be familiar with the Hotel policies and procedures, and its premises. Are knowledgeable about the quality systems and the emergency procedures.
● Performs any other related duties and authorities that may be assigned by the management of the company.
● Empties beer kegs.
● Sorts and counts linen, takes them to the laundry, collects clean linen and other items from the storeroom, kitchen etc., necessary for the daily operation.
● Must be familiar with the Hotel policies and procedures, and its premises. Are knowledgeable about the quality systems and the emergency procedures.

Qualifications and Educational Background

● Higher Diploma or equivalent from a Hotel School
● Excellent knowledge of the Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements
● Good command of Greek and English language
● Any other European language is a plus
● 2 years of previous experience as a Head Waiter preferable
